Lady Colonels Handcuff Titans

Julissa Reed accounted for all of the scoring as the Wilkes University (Pa.) women's soccer team shut out UW-Oshkosh, 2-0, on Saturday (Sept. 5) in Haverford, Pa.

Reed tallied her goals in the second half, with the first one coming off a pass from Ashley Graham at the 58:12 mark of the contest. Reed's second goal came off a serve from Lyndsay Ellis at the 75:43 mark of the match.

The first half went scoreless as strong defense limited the teams to a total of just six shots. Wilkes University, a first-time opponent of UW-Oshkosh, owned four of those shots and four of the period's five corner kicks.

UW-Oshkosh (1-1) finished the match with seven shots, including three by Caitlin Casey (Jr. • Waukesha) and one each by Jessica Erny (So. • Wauwatosa), Kiley Hauck (Fr. • Hubertus), Nikki Reed (So. • Muskego) and Nicole Strieker (Fr. • Janesville). Wilkes University (2-0) fired eight shots, including four by Reed and two by Taryn Hallowell.

The Titans, who were playing their first match in the state of Pennsylvania, posted a 6-4 advantage in corner kicks.

UW-Oshkosh goalkeeper Brittany Walder (So. • Waukesha) played all 90 minutes and saved three shots.

The Lady Colonels had two players protect their goal, with Sarah Shetler stopping two shots in the first half and Brooke Keister blocking four shots in the second.

UW-Oshkosh remains in Pennsylvania to play host Haverford College on Sunday (Sept. 6).
