Titans Explode For Six Goals In Win Over Falcons

Two goals and one assist from both Caitlin Casey (Jr. • Waukesha) and Nicole Strieker (Fr. • Janesville) led UW-Oshkosh to a 6-2 women's soccer victory over Concordia University Wisconsin on Thursday (Oct. 8) at J.J. Keller Field at Titan Stadium.

UW-Oshkosh (6-4-2), which recorded its highest scoring output of the season, tallied three goals in each half as it handed Concordia University Wisconsin (8-4-2) its first loss in nine matches.

Casey scored her second goal of the season just 2:51 into play to give UW-Oshkosh a 1-0 lead. Receiving credit for an assist on the goal were Jessica Erny (So. • Wauwatosa) and Kiley Hauck (Fr. • Hubertus).

The Falcons tied the score when Lauren Straehler kicked a shot from Becky Ott into the goal at the 20:29 mark of the contest.

The stalemate lasted only 21 seconds as Strieker booted a shot from Casey into the net at the 20:50 mark of the match. Strieker gave UW-Oshkosh a 3-1 lead when she scored an unassisted goal at the 22:06 mark of the game. The goals were Strieker's third and fourth of the season.

UW-Oshkosh held its 3-1 advantage until Casey scored at the 74:06 mark of the match. Casey's third goal of the season was assisted by Strieker.

The Titans extended their lead to 4-1 on Sam Monahan's (Fr. • Pewaukee) unassisted goal at the 79:54 mark of the contest. It was the first collegiate goal for Monahan.

Concordia University Wisconsin, which has lost all nine meetings with UW-Oshkosh, cut its deficit to 5-2 on Ott's unassisted goal at the 82:54 mark of the contest.

UW-Oshkosh closed its scoring when Monahan fed Becca Blue (Fr. • Kimberly) for a goal with 1:17 remaining. The goal was Blue's third of the year.

UW-Oshkosh attempted 20 shots, including seven by Casey and two each by Blue, Strieker, Carmen Fiordellisi (So. • Howard) and Anna Guilfoil (So. • Madison). Concordia University Wisconsin fired nine shots, including two each by Ott, Casey Pulver and Emily Waldorf.

A total of 10 goal keeping saves were made, six by Concordia University Wisconsin's Mary Ryan and four by UW-Oshkosh's Brittany Walder (So. • Waukesha).

UW-Oshkosh hosts UW-Superior in the third of its four-match home stand on Saturday (Oct. 10).
