Titans Continue Winning Trend

Jessica Erny (So. • Wauwatosa) scored two early goals as the UW-Oshkosh women's soccer team defeated UW-Whitewater, 3-1, on Wednesday (Oct. 14) at J.J. Keller Field at Titan Stadium. It was the Titans' fifth straight win and the sixth in their last eight matches (6-1-1 record).

Erny put UW-Oshkosh (8-4-2/4-1-1) on top early with an unassisted goal just 8:25 into play. Erny doubled the Titans' advantage when she scored off a pass from Nikki Reed (So. • Muskego) at the 24:25 mark of the match. The goals were Erny's third and fourth of the season.

UW-Oshkosh held its two-goal lead until Becca Blue (Fr. • Kimberly) scored at the 70:49 mark of the contest. Blue's fourth goal of the season was assisted by Erny and Caitlin Casey (Jr. • Waukesha).

UW-Whitewater (7-6-1/2-3-1 WIAC) entered the scoring column when Emily Gerber tallied her WIAC-leading 17th goal of the season at the 72:34 mark of the match. Gerber's goal was assisted by Kayla Miller.

UW-Oshkosh launched 11 shots, including four by Erny and two each by Blue, Casey and Carmen Fiordellisi (So. • Howard). The Titans were credited with just one corner kick.

UW-Whitewater attempted 13 shots, including four by Gerber and three by Elizabeth Orgovan. The Warhawks tallied 10 corner kicks, with six of them coming in the first half.

UW-Oshkosh goalkeeper Brittany Walder (So. • Waukesha) registered five saves, while UW-Whitewater goalkeeper Jacqueline Piasecki recorded seven.

UW-Oshkosh goes for its sixth straight win when it plays at UW-River Falls on Saturday (Oct. 17).
