Titans Score Twice In Final 20 Minutes To Oust Green Knights

Goals by Carmen Fiordellisi (So. • Howard) and Kelsey Spaith (So. • Madison) in the final 20 minutes propelled the UW-Oshkosh women's soccer team to a 2-0 victory over St. Norbert College on Sunday (Sept. 20) at J.J. Keller Field at Titan Stadium.

Fiordellisi gave UW-Oshkosh (3-3-1) a 1-0 lead when she scored her team-leading fourth goal of the season at 71:28 mark of the match. Less than five minutes later, Spaith doubled UW-Oshkosh's advantage when she tallied her first collegiate goal at the 75:58 mark of the contest. Both goals were unassisted.

The first half went scoreless despite seven shots by UW-Oshkosh and five by St. Norbert College (3-3). The Titans owned all three of the period's corner kicks.

UW-Oshkosh finished the contest with 17 shots, including four by both Fiordellisi and Jessica Erny (So. • Wauwatosa) and two by both Spaith and Caitlin Casey (Jr. • Waukesha). St. Norbert College, which suffered its seventh straight loss to UW-Oshkosh, totaled nine shots. Ann Maki launched six shots to lead the Green Knights.

UW-Oshkosh goalkeeper Brittany Walder (So. • Waukesha) saved two shots to record her third career shutout. St. Norbert College goalkeeper Cara Tazioli stopped eight shots in taking the loss.

UW-Oshkosh faces its first nationally ranked opponent of the season when it visits Illinois Wesleyan University on Saturday (Sept. 26). Illinois Wesleyan University (7-0) enters the contest ranked seventh in the NCAA Division III by both D3soccer.com and the National Soccer Coaches Association of America.
