Cyprian Jr. To Wrestle At NCAA Championship

OSHKOSH, Wis.- Guyon Cyprian Jr. is set to represent UW-Oshkosh men's wrestling at the NCAA Division III Men's Wrestling Championship on Friday and Saturday (March 15-16) in La Crosse.

UW-La Crosse is hosting this year's edition of the national tournament at the La Crosse Center. The championship webpage with complete information can be found here.

Cyprian Jr. (Sr. • Chicago, Ill.) qualified for his first Division III Championship through the consolation bracket in the 285-lb. class at the Upper Midwest Regional on March 1-2. He lost his first match of the meet before winning five straight to reach the third-place matchup. He defeated the opponent that beat him by 6-4 decision in the opening tilt and collecting a pin and two major decisions on his way. The third-place duel went to overtime before he secured his ticket to the national championship by a 5-2 decision.

Cyprian Jr. enters the first day of competition unseeded and will face Trent Ragland of Averett University (Va.).

"We're really grateful to be able to support Guyon on his journey, as he competes to earn All-America honors at nationals this weekend," head coach Aaron Konitzer noted. "It's really nice this year being it's in La Crosse, because our whole team will be traveling to cheer him on.  Training has been going well, and we're excited to watch him compete!"
