Titans Honor Seniors Before Facing Off With Raiders

OSHKOSH, Wis.- The UW-Oshkosh men's wrestling team was defeated by the Milwaukee School of Engineering at the Kolf Sports Center on Saturday (Jan. 6), by a score of 45-3.

The Titans are now 0-5 (0-5 WIAC), while the Raiders added a win to their record to become 2-4 (2-4 CCIW).

Seniors Guyon Cyprian Jr., Matt Hanke and Cody Welker were honored before the match as part of the Titans' Senior Day on the final home meet of the season.

JP Culver (Fr. • Vicksburg, Mich.) fought back after falling behind in points early, before being pinned in the 125-pound tilt.

Andrew Schad (So. • Kiel) and Ira Schlottke (Fr. • Grafton) were each pinned as well, at 4:21 and 1:14, in the 141- and 157-pound duals, respectively.

In the 157-pound match, Cody Welker (Sr. • Burlington) turned a reverse, but was pinned at the 2:05 mark. Joey Spizzirri (So. • Palatine, Ill.) scored in the 165-pound tilt before losing by technical fall on a 16-1 score at 3:52.

Michael Loger (So. • Andover, Minn.) earned a 7-4 decision to get the Titans on the board in his 184-pound match.

In his first match since the 2021-22 season, Matt Hanke scored nine points in a major decision loss at 197-pounds.

Camden Harms (Fr. • Mahomet, Ill.) scored on a reversal, takedown and riding time to shutout his opponent in the 285-pound match and add three more points to Oshkosh's total.

Oshkosh forfeited at both the 133-pound and 174-pound matches.

The Titans return to action next Saturday (Jan. 13) for the Manchester University (Ind.) Spartan Mat Classic. The tournament is scheduled to begin at 8 a.m. central time.
