Titans to Host Nationally Ranked Augsburg in Home Finale

OSHKOSH, Wis.—Concluding the 2022-23 home season, the UW-Oshkosh Titans wrestling program is set to host No. 6/1 Augsburg University on January 21. Action between the Titans and Auggies will get started at 1 p.m. in Albee Hall on the Oshkosh Campus. The Titans will honor the senior class prior to the meet. 

In 197-lbs. action, Beau Yineman went 5-0 in competition last week, including ranked opponents in UW-Plattevile's Tyler Hannah and Coe's Jared Voss. Yineman recorded two major decisions at the Cornell Invite and two pins in action last week.

At the Cornell Invite, Luc Valdez claimed second place at the 125 weight. Valdez claimed victories over Luther's Connor Kidd and Coe's Jaiden Moore before falling to Coe's Cade Hornback in the finals.

Yineman has recorded a record of 17-4 this season with seven total pins to lead the Titans. Valdez as a record of 15-7 at the 125-lbs. weight class with three pins. Cody Welker holds a record of 11-8 against attached wrestlers with five pins.

Augsburg, who is currently ranked No. 6 in the NWCA team tournament and No. 1 in the team dual rankings, has nine wrestlers ranked inside the top-15 in the NWCA rankings. 

Oshkosh In the Rankings

At the NWCA National rankings, released on January 18, 2023, Yineman sits at No. 2 in the national rankings at 197. In the Upper Midwest regional rankings, Valdez sits at No. 5 at the 125-weight class and Yineman at No. 1 in the region.

In the D3wrestle.com rankings, released on Jan. 11, 2023,  Yineman is No. 2 at 197 for the Titans. Valdez is an honorable mention at 125.

The Titans are ranked in the team rankings from Open Mat, sitting at No. 24 in the team tournament rankings. Yineman holds the top spot at 197 in the Open Mat rankings.
