Lemcke Captures Title At MSOE Invitational

Jordan Lemcke won the 285-pound weight class to lead four UW-Oshkosh place winners at the Milwaukee School of Engineering Wrestling Invitational Saturday (Dec. 4) in Milwaukee.

UW-Oshkosh, ranked 11th in the NCAA Division III by the National Wrestling Coaches Association, finished seventh in the team competition with 63 points.

Third-ranked Augsburg University (Minn.) won the 17-team meet with 149.5 points while UW-Eau Claire placed second with 125, Cornell College (Iowa) third with 110, Central College (Iowa) fourth with 82, 13th-ranked University of Chicago (Ill.) fifth with 80 and UW-Platteville sixth with 79.

Lemcke, ranked sixth nationally in his weight division, went unbeaten in four matches, including an 8-3 decision over fourth-ranked Tyler Kim of Augsburg University. Lemcke (10-0, 5 pins) advanced to the final with pins over Drake Fox of Cornell College in 1:21, Colton Grindle of UW-Platteville in 57 seconds and Sam Zook of Central College in 2:54.

UW-Oshkosh also received a fourth-place finish from Beau Yineman at 197 pounds and a pair of sixth-place listings from Denis Murphy and Jake Stritesky at 133.

Yineman compiled a 5-1 record after entering the day as the nation's top-ranked wrestler in his weight class. Yineman (15-1, 7 pins) suffered his first loss of the season on a pin delivered by UW-Platteville's Max Schmitz in 1:44 during the opening round. Yineman then stuck Angel Jaimes of Aurora University (Ill.) to the mat in 22 seconds, defeated Jackson Schichel of UW-Eau Claire, 11-1, glued David Ortiz of Elmhurst College (Ill.) to the surface in 5:56, outscored 13th-ranked Tyler Hannah of UW-Platteville, 6-2, before pinning Schmitz in 2:06. Yineman forfeited his third-place match to Gage Linahon of Central College.

Murphy and Stritesky both placed sixth in their weight category after forfeiting their fifth-place match. Murphy tallied a 3-2 record while Stritesky went 4-2.

Murphy (8-6, 2 pins) defeated Cael Cox of Central College, 7-2, before losing a 7-3 result to Elon Rodriquez of Triton College (Ill.). Murphy then posting convincing wins of 17-2 over Chase Poston of Central College and 9-1 over Evan Husko of Cornell College before losing a 5-2 result to Austin Gabbert of Augsburg University.

Stritesky (10-4, 4 pins) opened with a 12-3 loss to Cameron Johnson of Augsburg University and a pin of Carthage College's Sebastian Rosales in 38 seconds. He then defeated Cox, 14-3, and Justin Stauffacher of Augsburg University, 11-7, before sticking UW-Whitewater's Matt McEnroe to the mat in 4:54 and suffering an 8-4 loss to Rodriquez.

UW-Oshkosh also received records of 2-1 from Luc Valdez at 125 pounds; 0-2 from AJ Schoenfuss at 141; 2-2 from Eli Mondrella at 149; 3-2 (1 pin) from Issac Ortegon and 2-2 (1 pin) from Nate Stokhaug at 157; 1-2 from Adib Korabi, 1-2 from Muzi Sitshela and 0-2 from Cody Welker at 165; 0-2 from Preston Morgan at 174; and 1-2 (1 pin) from Nicholas Kohn at 285. 

UW-Oshkosh (6-0, 2-0 WIAC) competes in a Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference dual meet at 13th-ranked UW-Whitewater (5-0, 0-0) on Friday (Dec. 10).
