Titans Win All Four Matches At Adrian College Duals
The UW-Oshkosh wrestling team had little trouble in defeating all four of its nonconference opponents Saturday (Nov. 13) at the Adrian College Duals in Adrian, Mich.
UW-Oshkosh (5-0) routed Otterbein University (Ohio) by a 40-6 score, conquered Adrian College, 27-16, and crushed Alma College, 47-2, before concluding its competition with a 30-6 win over Ohio Northern University.
Luc Valdez at 125 pounds, Preston Morgan at 174, Beau Yineman at 197 and Jordan Lemcke at 285 all went unbeaten in their four contests for the Titans.
Valdez won all four of his bouts by a fall – sticking Chase Nelson of Otterbein University to the mat in 1:18, Josh Miller of Adrian College in 2:56, Dominic Megdanoff of Alma College in 29 seconds and Colin Mellott of Ohio Northern University in 3:38.
Morgan pinned Kyle De Moss of Otterbein University in 2:35 before posting a 7-3 win over Derrick Top of Adrian College. He then pinned Brendan Kurtze of Alma College in 2:40 and defeated Schuyler Caprella of Ohio Northern University,13-3.
Yineman defeated Jarrod Setliff of Otterbein University, 12-6, before gluing Dylan Wellbaum of Adrian College to the surface in 2:05. Yineman then obtained a forfeit victory from Alma College before ousting Cash Thompson of Ohio Northern University, 8-1.
Lemcke opened with a pin of Otterbein University's Bradley Minnard in 4:37 and a 3-1 sudden victory over Adrian College's Isaiah Espinoza. He then pinned Brody Miskimon of Alma College in 1:26 and outscored Ben DePrest of Ohio Northern University, 17-4.
Also going unbeaten for UW-Oshkosh were Jake Stritesky at 133 pounds and Raiden Montero at 149.
Stritesky pinned Cole Jackson of Otterbein University in 2:08 and defeated Will Kidder of Alma College, 15-0. Montero was an 8-4 winner over Otterbein University's Nathan Leko.
Posting 3-1 records at the duals were Titans Nate Stokhaug at 157 pounds and Patrick Curran at 184.
Stokhaug lost a 5-3 decision to Ryan Whitten of Otterbein University before pinning Junior Martin of Adrian College in 4:25 and Jayce Kuehnlein of Alma College in 53 seconds. He then registered a 14-0 win over Antonio Gonzalez of Ohio Northern University.
Curran started with a pin of Otterbein University's Joey Bradley in 3:28 and an 8-4 loss to Michael Jacobs of Alma College before winning on a forfeit against Alma College and edging Gavin Layman of Ohio Northern University, 7-4.
UW-Oshkosh's AJ Schoenfuss at 141 pounds and Muzi Sitshela at 165 contributed a pair of wins.
Schoenfuss defeated Joey Buckland of Otterbein University, 13-3, and Caleb Cline of Alma College, 6-2, while Sitshela edged Zach Altman of Adrian College, 5-2, and beat William Vernier of Alma College, 11-6.
The Titans also had Denis Murphy defeat Dylan Le and Brandon Lenczner oust Cody Kaufman of Ohio Northern University by scores of 7-3 and 159, respectively. Murphy competed at 133 pounds and Lenczner at 149.
UW-Oshkosh won nine of 10 bouts against Alma College and eight of 10 contests against Otterbein and Ohio Northern universities. The Titans captured six of the 10 bouts against Adrian College.
UW-Oshkosh wrestles UW-Stevens Point in a conference dual meet Thursday (Nov. 18) in Kolf Sports Center.
