Titans Split Matches With Falcons, Pointers

Elijah Burdick defeated both of his opponents as the UW-Oshkosh wrestling team split a pair of dual matches with Concordia University Wisconsin and UW-Stevens Point on Saturday (Dec. 12) in Stevens Point.

UW-Oshkosh (2-3) lost a 33-18 decision to Concordia University Wisconsin before ousting UW-Stevens Point, 30-10.

Burdick began his activity in the 285-pound weight class with a pin of Concordia University Wisconsin's Adam Braley in 3:49. He then edged UW-Stevens Point's Dominic Gunderson by a 2-0 result.

The Titans' Dellas Vandenberg earned a pair of wins, both courtesy of a forfeit in the 133-pound weight division.

UW-Oshkosh's remaining victory against Concordia University Wisconsin came from a pin by Mark Choinski in the 157-pound weight class. Choinski stuck the Falcons' Tristan Zabinski to the mat in 2:15.

Additional UW-Oshkosh winners against UW-Stevens Point were Jonathan Flores at 125 pounds, Austin Loos at 141, Hunter Mulock at 149, Patrick Reilly at 165, Julius Smith at 174 and John DePersia at 197.

Flores trounced the Pointers' Moziah Clark by a 20-5 score, while Loos shut out Steve Collins, 7-0.

Winning narrow decisions against UW-Stevens Point were Reilly by a 5-4 score over Jacob Dahlke, Smith by a 3-1 result over Quinton Peters and Mulock by a 4-2 outcome over Joey Seitz. DePersia won by a 10-6 count over Dan Irwin.

UW-Stevens Point tallied its team score on wins by Jaden Bolvin at 157 pounds and Ian Alberstett at 197. Bolvin defeated Nate Arquinego, 10-2, while Alberstett pinned Chris Yaros in 51 seconds.

Concordia University Wisconsin winners against UW-Oshkosh included Joshua Curcio who pinned Craig Mason in 59 seconds at 141 pounds and Kameron Bourgeois who stuck Flores to the surface in 4:53 at 125. Ben Reagan won by an injury default over Joe Pelkey at 149 pounds.

Other winners for the Falcons were Quentin Lueck at 165 pounds, Mason Mergener at 174, Mitchell Slatton at 184 and John Hinson at 197.

Lueck defeated Reilly, 3-0, while Mergener ousted Smith, 17-6. Slatton and Hinson won by scores of 8-2 and 19-1 over DePersia and Yaros, respectively.

UW-Oshkosh is off until it wrestles Wabash College (Ind.), University of Dubuque (Iowa) and Trine University (Ind.) on Jan. 2 in Chicago, Ill.
