Division II Rangers Overpower Titans

UW-Parkside wrestlers combined for four pins en route to a 44-6 victory over UW-Oshkosh on Thursday (Dec. 3) in Kolf Sports Center.

The NCAA Division II Rangers (2-1) received pins from Pernevlon Sheppard at 141 pounds, Nick Becker at 174, Josh Anthony at 197 and Matt Halverson at 285.

Sheppard gave UW-Parkside a 10-0 lead with his pin of Levi Smith in 6:25, while Becker extended the Rangers' advantage to 22-6 with his pin of Chris Alfonso in 3:44.

UW-Parkside collected consecutive pins when Anthony stuck Chris Yaros and Halverson glued Elijah Burdick to the mat in 2:19 and 2:41, respectively. The results gave the Rangers a 39-6 lead.

UW-Oshkosh (1-2) earned its only team points on a forfeit to Ethan Fredericks at 165 pounds. The win cut the Titans' deficit to 16-6.

UW-Oshkosh's closest results were Mark Choinski's 8-6 loss to Brandt Welcher at 157 pounds and Joe Pelkey's 14-10 setback to Frank Yattoni IV at 149.

UW-Parkside finished two matches with a double-digit cushion, as Ronzel Darling defeated Jonathan Flores, 19-1, at 125 pounds and James Lehman ousted John DeParsia, 17-0, at 184.

The Rangers' Joseph Her opened the contest with an 11-2 victory over Dellas Vandenberg at 133 pounds.

UW-Oshkosh competes at the Milwaukee School of Engineering Invitational on Saturday (Dec. 5).
