Titans To Compete For Fourth Consecutive WIAC Championship

OSHKOSH, Wis.- The UW-Oshkosh women's gymnastics team will travel up to St. Paul, Minnesota for the 50th WIAC Championship/National Collegiate Gymnastics Association (NCGA) West Regional at Hamline University (Minn.) on Saturday (Mar. 9).

The Pipers will host the league championship at Hutton Arena with march-in scheduled for 2 p.m.

The 17-time conference champion Titans, who have won the previous three titles, will look to defend their claim as the top team in the conference and secure a fourth-straight bid to the NCGA Championship.

Previous event winners from Oshkosh include; Emily Buffington (Sr. • Huntersville, N.C.), who won the vault and uneven bars in 2022 and the all-around in 2023 and Delaney Cienkus (Jr. • Plainfield, Ill.), who claimed the balance beam crown in 2023.

Mia Lucero (Jr. • Bolingbrook, Ill.) leads the conference on the vault with a program record 9.850, Kaylie Berens (Sr. • Golden, Colo.), Buffington and Amaya McConkay (So. • Broken Arrow, Okla.) holds the top spot on the uneven bars with a 9.800 and Buffington has a more than half-point lead in the all-around with a 38.875, her program-record mark that she has broken three times.

The conference meet will also serve as the West Region qualifier for the NCGA championship that will be held March 23 and hosted by Ursinus College (Pa.). The top two teams from the WIAC event, along with qualified gymnasts and potential at-large teams, will advance to the NCGA meet.

The top-six finishers in each event receive All-Conference designation.
