Titans Pick Up Decisive Win Over Warriors

Emily Buffington and Olivia Keller won two events apiece to lead the nationally ranked UW-Oshkosh women's gymnastics team to a 190.375-181.900 victory over Winona State University Thursday (Feb. 10) in Winona, Minn.

Buffington captured first place on the uneven bars and vault while Keller secured the top finish on the balance beam and in the floor exercise.

UW-Oshkosh, ranked second in the Division III Rating Index compiled by RoadToNationals.com, had the top six finishers on the uneven bars, the top five finishers on both the balance beam and vault, and five of the top six finishers in the floor exercise.  

Buffington earned a winning score of 9.65 on the uneven bars. UW-Oshkosh owned the next five finishers on the apparatus as well as as Rahdea Jarvis placed second with a figure of 9.575, Trinity Sawyer third at 9.45, Samantha Zeilinger fourth at 9.40, Emily Gilot fifth at 9.375 and Meaghan O'Connor sixth at 9.15.

Buffington took first place on the vault with a score of 9.60. The Titans also had Gilot and Jarvis finish second with grades of 9.55, Sawyer fourth at 9.475 and Mia Lucero fifth at 9.375.

Keller posted a score of 9.525 to win the floor exercise. UW-Oshkosh also had Buffington and Sawyer finish third with marks of 9.45, Alyssa Nore fifth at 9.40 and Jarvis sixth at 9.375.

Keller was the winner on the balance with a season-best score of 9.70. She was followed by Titans Kaira Hammond and Liz Romano in second place with results of 9.65, Delaney Cienkus in fourth at 9.625 and Kaylie Berens in fifth at 9.55.

Winona State University's Bryce Stoltz accumulated 36.95 points to win the all-around competition.

UW-Oshkosh surpassed a team score of 190.00 for the third consecutive meet. The Titans recorded a season-best result of 48.175 on the balance beam and figures of 47.55 on the vault, 47.45 on the uneven bars and 47.20 in the floor exercise.

The 11th-ranked Warriors reached their team score with marks of 46.325 in the floor exercise, 45.925 on the vault, 45.90 on the balance beam and 43.75 on the uneven bars. 

UW-Oshkosh is off until it hosts fourth-ranked UW-La Crosse on Feb. 18 in Kolf Sports Center.
