Titans Register Convincing Win Over Blugolds

Reigning Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference women's gymnastics champion UW-Oshkosh outscored UW-Eau Claire in all four events to coast to a 187.875-180.825 victory on Thursday (Jan. 20) in Eau Claire.

UW-Oshkosh, which compiled a score of 185.650 during its season-opening win over Minnesota schools Hamline University and Winona State University on Jan. 14, defeated UW-Eau Claire with event grades of 47.90 on the vault, 47.40 in the floor exercise, 46.55 on the balance beam and 46.025 on the uneven bars.

UW-Eau Claire was performing in its first meet of the 2022 season and tallied event scores of 46.375 on the vault, 45.325 on the balance beam, 44.95 in the floor exercise and 44.175 on the uneven bars.

UW-Oshkosh dominated the individual listings by having the top four finishers on the vault, five of the top six finishers in the floor exercise, four of the top five finishers on the balance beam and four of the top six finishers on the uneven bars.

Titan Emily Buffington took first place on the vault with a score of 9.70 while teammates Mia Lucero finished second at 9.625, Emily Gilot third at 9.60, Audrey Koester fourth at 9.55 and Rahdea Jarvis seventh at 9.425.

UW-Oshkosh's Trinity Sawyer captured first place in the floor exercise with a score of 9.575. The Titans also had Jarvis finish second with a mark of 9.55, Delaney Cienkus third at 9.525, Buffington and Olivia Keller third at 9.375 and Gilot eighth at 9.275.

Titan Kaylie Berens and Blugold Tia Ravara share first place on the balance beam with scores of 9.45. UW-Oshkosh's Anna Zoromski finished third with a figure of 9.425 while Keller placed fourth at 9.35, Cienkus fifth at 9.275 and Lucero eighth at 9.05.

UW-Oshkosh swept the top three mentions on uneven bars as Samantha Zeilinger finished first with a score of 9.50, Sawyer second at 9.425 and Meaghan O'Connor third at 9.35. The Titans also had Buffington rank sixth with a mark of 9.025, Jarvis seventh at 8.725 and Gilot eighth at 8.675.

UW-Eau Claire's Harriet Toth was the lone all-around entry during the meet. She compiled 36.10 points along with a fifth-place score of 9.50 on the vault.

NCAA Division III UW-Oshkosh competes against Division I programs Ball State University (Ind.), Eastern Michigan University and Western Michigan University on Jan. 28 in Ypsilanti, Mich. The quadrangular will be hosted by Eastern Michigan University.
