Titans Suffer Loss To Warhawks In Season Finale

Emily Buffington, Rahdea Jarvis and Olivia Keller produced winning scores as UW-Oshkosh concluded an abbreviated 2021 women's gymnastics season with a 188.050-186.975 road loss to UW-Whitewater on Saturday (April 3).

Buffington paced the Titans against the Warhawks with four top-six finishes. She took first place on the uneven bars with a score of 9.575, second in the all-around competition with a sum of 37.375 and third on the balance beam and in the floor exercise with counts of 9.375 and 9.60, respectively. Buffington's score in the floor exericse established a season best.

Jarvis and Keller both shared their winning performance with UW-Whitewater's Meg McGinley. Jarvis and McGinley achieved first-place scores of 9.575 on the vault while Keller and McGinley attained first-place results of 9.675 in the floor exercise. The score by Jarvis was a season high.

Titan Trinity Sawyer placed in two categories after finishing third on the vault and fifth on the uneven bars with scores of 9.55 and 9.40, respectively.

UW-Oshkosh also had Emily Gilot place third on the uneven bars with a score of 9.475, Paige Mayhew fourth on the balance beam with a figure of 9.35 and Kaylie Berens fourth in the all-around competition with an amount of 36.725.

The Titans wrapped up their top-six listings with the fifth-place score of 9.275 on the balance beam from Rachel Morris and the sixth-place grade of 9.424 on the vault from Haley Volstad.

UW-Whitewater's Blaise Wilson finished first on the balance beam and in the all-around competition with scores of 9.60 and 38.175, respectively.

UW-Oshkosh reached its overall team score by totaling a season-best 47.45 points in the floor exercise, 47.00 on the uneven bars, 46.875 on the vault and 45.65 on the balance beam.

UW-Whitewater tallied its overall team score with 47.95 points in the floor exercise, 47.25 on the vault, 46.95 on the uneven bars and 45.90 on the balance beam.

UW-Oshkosh participated in just four dual meets this season, all against WIAC opponents, due to the novel coronavirus pandemic. The Titans went 2-2 in those four contests, including wins over UW-Eau Claire on March 11 and Winona State University (Minn.) on March 18.

UW-Oshkosh won the WIAC title in 2020 and enters the 2022 season as the defending league champion. The 2021 WIAC Championship was not held due to the pandemic.
