Finin Receives NCGA All-America In Academics Award

Senior Bailey Finin of the UW-Oshkosh women's gymnastics team was named to the 2019 National Collegiate Gymnastics Association (NCGA) All-America In Academics Team.

A total of 45 senior gymnasts from across the country were recognized for owning a cumulative grade point average (GPA) of at least 3.00. Each nominee must qualify as a senior student academically and be in her last year of athletic eligibility.

Finin, a two-time WIAC Scholastic Honor Roll member, owns a 3.38 GPA as a nursing major. She also was named a Scholastic All-American by the National Association of Collegiate Gymnastics Coaches/Women in 2017.

Finin competed in all 11 meets for the Titans in 2019 and finished 21st among 49 gymnasts in the floor exercise with a score of 9.55 as UW-Oshkosh placed fourth in the team standings at the NCGA Championship held March 23 in Kolf Sports Center.

Finin also finished 19th in the floor exercise with a score of 9.60 at the WIAC Championship/NCGA West Regional held March 9 in Menomonie. The Titans placed second in the team competition for their highest ranking at the meet since 2007.

Finin's highest floor exercise score of the 2019 season came during UW-Oshkosh's road victory over UW-Whitewater on March 2. Finin recorded a winning score of 9.675 as the Titans defeated the Warhawks, 191.850-190.675. 

Finin was a competitor at the 2017 NCGA Championship and placed 15th in the floor exercise with a score of 9.55.
