Eagles Hand Titans' First Loss Of Season

Third-ranked UW-La Crosse owned the top five performers in the floor exercise and the top three on the uneven bars as it defeated the UW-Oshkosh women's gymnastics team, 185.675-179.750, on Thursday (Jan. 22) in La Crosse.

The Eagles' Kelsi Vomacka won the floor exercise with a score of 9.70, while teammates Ali Berry followed at 9.675, Elsa Spitzmueller at 9.625, Amy Enright at 9.60 and Sheree Romesburg at 9.55.

Enright and UW-La Crosse teammate Lauren Wilson tied for first place on the uneven bars with scores of 9.575 while the Eagles' Samantha Wiekamp followed at 9.50.

UW-Oshkosh's Krystal Walker captured the all-around competition with 36.375 points. Her all-around count included a second-place score of 9.175 on the balance beam and sixth-place figures of 9.475 in the floor exercise and 9.10 on the vault.

The Titans' Leane Blais took first place on the balance beam with 9.325 points and fourth on the uneven bars with 9.30.

The remaining event winner was UW-La Crosse's Nicole Wangler. She captured the ranking on the vault with a score of 9.40.

UW-Oshkosh also received second-place scores of 9.225 on the vault from Kimberly Robertson and Emily Ryan. The Titans' Elizabeth Kiel finished sixth on the uneven bars with a score of 9.025.

UW-Oshkosh's team score was compiled with 45.45 points in the floor exercise, 44.95 on the vault, 44.80 on the uneven bars and 44.55 on the balance beam.

UW-La Crosse acquired its overall team score with 48.15 points in the floor exercise, 46.575 on the uneven bars, 45.875 on the vault and 45.075 on the balance beam.

UW-Oshkosh, ranked ninth in the NCGA by GymInfo, competes against NCAA Division I schools Rutgers University (N.J.), Brown University (R.I.) and Michigan State University next Saturday (Jan. 31) in New Brunswick, N.J.
