Titans Trounce Pipers In Season Opener
Stacie Jenkins (Jr. • Peoria, Ariz.) won three events and
recorded the highest score in the all-around competition as the
UW-Oshkosh women's gymnastics team opened the 2010 season with a
170.625-154.275 victory over Hamline University (Minn.) on Saturday
(Jan. 9) in Kolf Sports Center.
Jenkins totaled 34.775 points in becoming the meet's top
all-around performer. Her score included first-place efforts of
9.025 in the floor exercise, 8.925 on the uneven bars and 9.05 on
the vault. Jenkins placed ninth on the balance beam with a score of
7.775.
UW-Oshkosh's Gretchen Fackelman (Sr. • St. Louis, Mo.)
completed the meet's first-place listings with a score of 8.85 on
the balance beam.
The Titans also benefited from the performances of Stefanie
Armstrong (Sr. • Kennesaw, Ga.) and Abby Zubella (Fr.•
Appleton).
Armstrong finished third in both the all-round competition and
floor exercise with scores of 33.375 and 8.975, respectively, while
placing fifth on the balance beam with a value of 8.475. Zubella
ranked second in the floor exercise with a score of 9.00 and fifth
on the uneven bars with a mark of 8.20.
Darlene Herrmann (Sr. • Newton, N.J.) and Jill Lindberg (So.
• Meridian, Idaho) both finished third for UW-Oshkosh with
scores of 8.775 on the uneven bars and 8.65 on the balance beam,
respectively. The Titans' Jaslyn Essman (So. • Burlington)
placed fifth on the vault with a score of 8.775.
The Titans registered event scores of 43.90 on the vault, 43.85 in
the floor exercise, 42.20 on the balance beam and 40.675 on the
uneven bars. The Pipers recorded event scores of 43.15 on the
vault, 41.575 in the floor exercise, 40.50 on the balance beam and
29.05 on the uneven bars.
UW-Oshkosh is the guest of Gustavus Adolphus College (Minn.) on
Saturday (Jan. 16).
