Titans Finish Third At Gershon/McLellan Invitational
Stacie Jenkins (Jr. • Peoria, Ariz.) finished second in the
all-around competition as the UW-Oshkosh women's gymnastics team
placed third at the Ernest Gershon/Mary McLellan Invitational on
Friday (Feb. 5) in La Crosse.
UW-La Crosse, the 13-time defending WIAC champion, won the
invitational title with 180.025 points. UW-Eau Claire finished
second in the three-team meet with 175.350 points and UW-Oshkosh
third with 174.500.
UW-Oshkosh's overall score consisted of 44.225 points in the floor
exercise, 44.150 on the vault, 44.025 on the balance beam and
42.100 on the uneven bars. The Titans' score on the balance beam
was a season best.
Jenkins tallied a second-place score of 35.175 in the all-around
competition. Her score included a fourth-place mark of 9.275 on the
balance beam and a sixth-place figure of 8.975 on the vault.
Danielle Schulzetenberg of UW-Eau Claire captured the all-around
title with 35.775 points.
UW-Oshkosh owned three of the top eight gymnasts on the uneven
bars as Ryan Metzger (Jr. • Hanover Park, Ill.) finished
fourth with a score of 8.925, Abby Zubella (Fr. • Appleton)
sixth at 8.55 and Jenkins eighth at 8.35. Zubella also placed
seventh in the floor exercise with a score of 9.075.
Stefanie Armstrong (Sr. • Kennesaw, Ga.) contributed to the
Titans' effort by finishing third in the all-around competition
with a score of 34.225 and eighth on the vault with a mark of
8.95.
The Titans' Gretchen Fackelman (Sr. • St. Louis, Mo.) added a
fifth-place value of 9.05 on the balance beam.
UW-La Crosse's Gabi Hooper earned a pair of first-place finishes
by posting scores of 9.45 in the floor exercise and 9.30 on the
vault.
Other event winners were Schulzetenberg and UW-La Crosse's Kelsey
Matula on the balance beam with a score of 9.425 and UW-Eau
Claire's Rachel Behmer on the uneven bars with a mark of 9.375.
UW-Oshkosh joins UW-Eau Claire, UW-La Crosse and host UW-Stout at
the John Zuerlein Invitational next Friday (Feb. 12) in
Menomonie.
