Downie Finishes 30th At UW-Eau Claire Georgianni Invitational

EAU CLAIRE, Wis.- Ava Downie shot an 88 in both rounds to finish in a tie for 30th place at the UW-Eau Claire Georgianni Invitational held Saturday and Sunday (Sept. 9-10) at the Wild Ridge Golf Course in Eau Claire and Eau Claire Country Club in Altoona.

Downie totaled 176 strokes (36-over par) over the tournament's 36 holes. She shared her finish with Elizabeth Fagerlind of Augsburg University (Minn.) and Olivia McSorley of UW-Eau Claire.

The Titans also had Alyssa Dreher finish 43rd with 179 strokes (35-over par), Sydney Bornhorst finish tied with three others for 44th with 180 strokes (36-over par), Josie Hofer finish tied with two others for 48th with 182 strokes (38-over par) and Taryn Endres finish tied two three others for 53rd with 186 strokes (42-over par).

Emily Renner of the College of St. Benedict (Minn.) earned first place with 150 total strokes (six-over par). She was the only golfer to score under 80 strokes in both rounds of the tournament.

Riley Zebroski of Gustavus Adolphus College (Minn.) took second with 154 total strokes and Bergen Senf from St. Olaf College (Minn.) finished third with 159 total strokes.

UW-Oshkosh finished 10th in the 11-team field with 715 total strokes (139-over par). The Titans hit 357 strokes on Saturday and 358 on Sunday.

Gustavus Adolphus won the team title with 651 total strokes (75-over par), followed by St. Benedict with 655 total strokes (79-over par) and a two way tie between Macalester College (Minn.) and UW-La Crosse for third place (663 total strokes, 87-over par).

The Titans will return to action on Saturday (Sept. 16) for the two-day Division III Classic, hosted by Gustavus Adolphus at Emerald Greens Golf Course in Hastings, Minn. Play will begin at 1:30 p.m. on Saturday and 8 a.m. on Sunday.
