Priebe Receives WIAC Golf Scholar-Athlete Award

UW-Oshkosh senior Erika Priebe is the 2021 recipient of the Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference Judy Kruckman Women's Golf Scholar-Athlete Award.

Priebe is majoring in accounting and boasts a 3.975 cumulative grade-point-average.

Priebe was named an All-American Scholar by the Women's Golf Coaches Association for the 2018-19 and 2019-20 seasons and is a three-time WIAC Scholastic Honor member. She has been recognized on UW-Oshkosh's Dean's List every semester (six) and has received multiple academic scholarships.

Priebe is a member of the Wisconsin Institute of Certified Public Accountants, as well as UW-Oshkosh's Accounting Club. She currently volunteers at Merrill Elementary School in Oshkosh.

The 2018 Fox Valley Lutheran High School graduate is a two-time All-WIAC Second Team selection, receiving the honor during both the 2018-19 and 2019-20 seasons.

Priebe finished sixth among 69 contestants at the WIAC Championship held this past weekend (Oct. 9-10) in Reedsburg. Priebe totaled 239 strokes (23-over-par) during the 54-hole tournament after counting daily 18-hole scores of 76, 80 and 83. She previously placed 19th at the league championship in 2019 and seventh in 2018.

Priebe holds UW-Oshkosh records for both 18- (71) and 36-hole (145) scores.

Priebe is the fourth Titan to earn the WIAC Judy Kruckman Scholar-Athlete award for women's golf, joining Malinda Handlen in 2000, Cheryl Treadwell in 2005 and her sister, Kayla Priebe, in 2018.

Also nominated for this year's scholar-athlete award were UW-La Crosse's Maija Tanberg, UW-Platteville's Cortney Olson, UW-River Falls' Courtney Carson and UW-Stevens Point's Brooke Tuszka.

The WIAC Scholar-Athlete Award is named after Judy Kruckman, who served as assistant commissioner for the WIAC from 1996-98. She was also the commissioner of the Wisconsin Women's Intercollegiate Athletic Conference from 1984-96.

To be nominated for the scholar-athlete award, a student-athlete must have a minimum 3.50 grade point average. In addition, she must be in her last year of competition, or on schedule to graduate this academic year, and have competed for a minimum of two years. The award is based on academic achievements, athletics accomplishments and involvement in other campus activities, organizations, and community service projects.
