Titans Place Fifth At V-Hawk Invitational

Results

Competing in Onalaska for the second consecutive day, UW-Oshkosh finished fifth among 10 women's golf programs at the Viterbo University V-Hawk Invitational held Sunday (Sept. 12) at the La Crosse Country Club.

The Titans' performance follows a third-place finish at the 10-team UW-La Crosse Invitational held Saturday (Sept. 11) at The Golf Club of Cedar Creek.

UW-Oshkosh concluded Sunday's tournament with an 18-hole team score of 360 strokes (72-over-par). UW-La Crosse edged Viterbo University by one stroke, 330 (42-over-par)-331 (43-over-par), for the team title.

Rounding out the team rankings were third-place Augustana College (Ill.) with 349 strokes, fourth-place Augustana College (B) with 353, fifth-place UW-Oshkosh, sixth-place UW-Whitewater (B) with 366, seventh-place UW-Stevens Point with 374, eighth-place UW-Platteville with 378, ninth-place Viterbo University (B) with 402 and 10th-place St. Norbert College with 418.

Augustana College nipped UW-La Crosse, 327-329, for the team championship at Saturday's UW-La Crosse Invitational.

UW-Oshkosh was led by the 17th-place finishes of Megan Footit, Margherite Pettenuzzo and Erika Priebe at Sunday's V-Hawk Invitational. All three golfers tallied 89 (17-over-par) strokes.

The Titans also had Lauryn Davis finish 28th with 93 strokes, Josie Hofer 33rd with 96 and Gwyn Golembiewski 46th with 105.

Viterbo University's Madison Zloto claimed the individual title with 78 stokes (6-over-par) while Paige Breslin of Augustana College and Grace Ellison of UW-La Crosse tied for second place with 80 (8-over-par).

Caylee Beyer of Viterbo University finished fourth among the tournament's 57 golfers with 81 strokes and Sophie Denure of UW-La Crosse fifth with 82.

UW-Oshkosh travels to Hastings, Minn., next weekend for the prestigious Division III Classic. Competition in the 36-hole tournament will be held Saturday and Sunday (Sept. 18-19) at the Emerald Greens Golf Course.
