Three Titans Named All-American Golf Scholars
UW-Oshkosh's Kayla Priebe, Erika Priebe and Margherite Pettenuzzo were named All-American Scholars by the Women's Golf Coaches Association (WGCA) for the 2018-19 academic year.
Kayla Priebe, an accounting major who graduated in May with a 4.00 grade-point average (GPA), was selected as an All-American Scholar for the fourth consecutive year. Last month, the four-time WIAC Scholastic Honor Roll member received Google Cloud Academic All-America® First Team accolades (NCAA Division III Women's At-Large) from the College Sports Information Directors of America. She is a graduate of Fox Valley Lutheran High School in Appleton.
Erika Priebe, a freshman majoring in accounting, possesses a 4.00 GPA. The Fox Valley Lutheran High School graduate joined her sister, Kayla, as a member of the 2018-19 WIAC Scholastic Honor Roll.
Pettenuzzo, a freshman, holds a 3.93 GPA as a major in health administration. The Prospect High School (Mount Prospect, Ill.) graduate was also named to the 2018-19 WIAC Scholastic Honor Roll.
A total of 1,096 women from NCAA and NAIA institutions around the nation were named an 18Birdies WGCA All-American Scholar. Players must have earned a minimum 3.5 cumulative grade point average on a 4.0 scale to be eligible for the award. A total of 10 players from the WIAC were honored, including four from UW-Whitewater.
Kayla Priebe, UW-Oshkosh's nominee for the 2019 NCAA Woman of the Year Award, earned a pair of all-region citations while competing for the Titans the past four seasons. The three-time Google Cloud Academic All-District® 6 selection shared the 2019 UW-Oshkosh John Taylor Senior Scholar-Athlete Award with softball player Abby Menting.
Priebe averaged 78.6 strokes during her 16 18-hole rounds of the 2018-19 season to earn NCAA Division III All-Central Region honors for the second time in three years. She scored 80 strokes or better 14 times, including a season-best 74 on the first day of the UW-Oshkosh Titan Classic held Sept. 1 at the Oshkosh Country Club.
Last fall, Priebe finished sixth with 236 strokes at the 54-hole WIAC Championship held in Reedsburg. She also placed second at the UW-Oshkosh Titan Classic, UW-Whitewater Fall Invitational and UW-Stevens Point Mad Dawg Invitational.
Priebe previously took second place at the WIAC Championship in 2015 and third in both 2016 and 2017. She received all-conference first team recognition in 2015, 2016 and 2018 and second team accolades in 2017. The 2016 WIAC Player of the Year finished 49th at the 2016 NCAA Division III Championship in Houston, Texas.
Erika Priebe averaged 81.8 strokes during her 16 18-hole rounds of the 2018-19 season to collect All-WIAC Second Team recognition. She scored 80 strokes or better seven times, including a season-best 76 on the final day of the WIAC Championship.
Priebe finished fourth at the UW-Oshkosh Titan Classic, fifth at the UW-Whitewater Fall Invitational and seventh at the WIAC Championship.
Pettenuzzo placed sixth at the UW-Oshkosh Titan Classic, ninth at the UW-Whitewater Fall Invitational, 11th at the UW-Stevens Point Mad Dawg Invitational and 26th at the WIAC Championship this past season.
Pettenuzzo averaged 83 strokes during her 17 18-hole rounds, including a season-best 77 at the Illinois Wesleyan University Niepagen Spring Fling. She scored 80 strokes or better five times.
