Priebe Repeats As All-American Scholar
UW-Oshkosh sophomore Kayla Priebe was one of 952 golfers named an All-American Scholar by the Women's Golf Coaches Association (WGCA) for the 2016-17 academic year.
Priebe, who owns a 4.0 cumulative grade point average as an accounting major, was also selected a WGCA All-American Scholar following the 2015-16 academic year.
Last fall, Priebe earned All-WIAC First Team honors for the second consecutive year after being the only league player to average less than 80 strokes per round. Her 18-hole average of 78.5 strokes led the WIAC by nearly two strokes and helped UW-Oshkosh finish second at the league championship.
Priebe concluded the 2016-17 season by averaging 79.3 strokes. She captured first place at the UW-Oshkosh Titan Classic, second place at the Mad Dawg Invitational and third place at both the WIAC Championship and UW-Whitewater Invitational.
This past May, Priebe was named to the 10-member NCAA Division III All-Central Region First Team by the WGCA and to the 11-member NCAA Division III Academic All-District™ Six Women's At-Large First Team by the College Sports Information Directors of America.
During the 2015-16 season, Priebe averaged 82.7 strokes per round to help UW-Oshkosh capture the WIAC title and finish 14th at the NCAA Division III Championship. She finished second at the WIAC and 49th at the NCAA Division III championships.
Other WIAC golfers recognized by the WGCA for their performance in the classroom during the 2016-17 academic year were Marie Allo, Rachel Hernandez and Alexa Filipiak from UW-Stout and Kaitlin Bowe, Ashley Hofmeister, Hayley Jefferson, Madeline McCue and Stephanie Stair from UW-Whitewater.
Players must have earned a minimum 3.5 grade point average on a 4.0 scale to be considered as an All-American Scholar.
