Titans Finish Fourth At UW-Whitewater Spring Fling

Kayla Priebe and Laura Stair shared ninth place in the individual listings to help UW-Oshkosh finish fourth among 16 teams at the UW-Whitewater Women's Golf Spring Fling held Friday and Saturday (April 22-23) at the Beloit Club in Beloit.

Priebe and Stair both totaled 169 strokes (25-over-par) in the 36-hole tournament. Priebe attempted 85 shots during the first round of 18 holes and 84 during the second while Stair launched 82 shots in the first round and 87 in the second.

UW-Oshkosh also had Micayla Richards finish 28th with 177 strokes, Dianna Scheibe 31st with 179 and Amanda Pederson 38th with 184. Richards and Scheibe both counted 85 strokes during the second round to improve their first-round score by seven and nine strokes, respectively.

Illinois Wesleyan University owned three of the tournament's top five golfers, including Jordan Koehler who captured first place with 156 strokes (12-over-par). The Vikings also had Olivia Kief finish second with 161 strokes and Lizzy Mavrogenes fifth with 167.

Kelley McDade of Carroll University placed third among the 89 golfers with 163 strokes while Madeline Bond of Wheaton College (Ill.) finished fourth with 164 and Megan Kelly of North Central College (Ill.) fifth with 167.

Illinois Wesleyan University tallied 653 strokes (77-over-par) to easily win the team title. The Vikings compiled 330 strokes during the first round and 323 in the second to finish well ahead of Carthage College's second-place score of 682 (106-over-par).

Illinois Wesleyan University's "B" team placed third with 691 strokes while UW-Oshkosh finished fourth with 694 and University of St. Francis (Ill.) fifth with 700. UW-Oshkosh dropped 12 strokes during the second round to lower its daily score from 353 to 341.

UW-Oshkosh concludes its 2016-17 season next Saturday and Sunday (April 29-30) at the Vikings Invitational in Rock Island, Ill.
