Priebe Named WIAC Player Of The Year

Kayla Priebe earned Player of the Year honors to lead a league-high four UW-Oshkosh selections to the 2016-17 All-WIAC Women's Golf Team.

Priebe becomes the second consecutive Titan and third player in program history to claim conference Player of the Year laurels. UW-Oshkosh's McKenzie Paul won the league's top individual award last season while Jennifer Young earned the distinction in both 2003-04 and 2006-07.

Priebe, who also earned All-WIAC first team status last year, was the only league player to average less than 80 strokes per round this season. Her 18-hole average of 78.5 strokes led the WIAC by nearly two strokes.

UW-Oshkosh's Hannah Braun, Micayla Richards and Laura Stair each earned spots on the five-player Second Team. Braun receives recognition following her inaugural collegiate campaign while Richards and Stair also achieved second-team mention last season.

The All-WIAC Team was determined by using the NCAA Division III GolfStat rankings. A player must have completed eight rounds in order to be eligible for all-conference consideration.

Joining Priebe on the all-league first team were UW-Eau Claire's Allison Chomniak, UW-Stout's Rachel Hernandez and Madison McCambridge, and UW-Whitewater's Ashley Hofmeister.

Completing the All-WIAC Second Team were UW-Platteville's Stephanie Baribeau and UW-Stout's Alexa Filipiak.

Priebe was followed on the league's statistical leaderboard by Hernandez with an 80.3 stroke average, Hofmeister at 81.0, McCambridge at 81.8 and Chomniak at 81.9.

Baribeau's stroke average of 82.2 was the best among the Second Team while Braun was next at 82.9, Richards at 83.2, Filipiak at 83.3 and Stair at 83.5.

Priebe, who scored 80 or better during 12 of her 13 rounds this season, opened the year by claiming medalist honors at the UW-Oshkosh Titan Classic. She also finished second at the Mad Dawg Invitational, third at both the WIAC Championship and the UW-Whitewater Invitational, and 10th at the NCAA Division III Classic.

Braun produced a pair of top-10 finishes this season, placing third at the UW-Oshkosh Titan Classic and seventh at the WIAC Championship.

Richards capped the season with a fifth-place showing at the WIAC Championship after finishing seventh at the UW-Oshkosh Titan Classic and 10th at the UW-Whitewater Invitational.

Stair closed out her fall schedule with three consecutive top-eight efforts. She placed fifth at the WIAC Championship, sixth at the Mad Dawg Invitational and eighth at the UW-Whitewater Invitational.

UW-Oshkosh concluded the 2016-17 season with a second-place result at the WIAC Championship. UW-Stout won the league title by five strokes (980-985) over the Titans.
