Titans Secure Second Place At The Mad Dawg Invitational

UW-Oshkosh owned two of the top six individual performances in finishing second among 11 teams at the Mad Dawg Women's Golf Invitational held Saturday and Sunday (Oct. 1-2) at the Glacier Woods Golf Club in Iola.

UW-Oshkosh totaled 662 strokes (78-over-par) for its runner-up finish in the 36-hole tournament. The Titans tallied 18-hole scores of 328 strokes on the first day of competition and 334 on the second.

Viterbo University captured the team title with 657 strokes (73-over-par). The V-Hawks, who trailed UW-Oshkosh by four strokes after Friday's competition, took first place after improving their daily score from 332 to 325.

UW-Whitewater finished third in the team standings with 670 strokes, UW-Stout fourth with 675 and St. Norbert College fifth with 698.

UW-Oshkosh's Kayla Priebe placed second by just one stroke to finish as the Titans' top individual for the fourth time in five meets. Priebe tallied 158 strokes (12-over-par) after reducing her daily score from 80 to 78.

The Titans also had Laura Stair finish sixth with 164 strokes, Hanna Rebholz 13th with 169 and Micayla Richards 17th with 171. Stair recorded daily scores of 81 and 83, Rebholz 81 and 88, and Richards 86 and 85.

Other UW-Oshkosh competitors were Hannah Braun, Dianna Scheibe, Ireland Dunne and Amanda Pederson. Braun placed 24th with 178 strokes, Scheibe 36th with 183, Dunne 45th with 189 and Pederson 57th with 202.

Viterbo University's Danielle Ducklow was the top finisher in a field of 63 golfers. Ducklow totaled 157 strokes (11-over-par), including a tournament-best 77 on the first day of competition.

Rounding out the top five golfers were third-place Bailey Schmidt of Viterbo University with 160 stokes, fourth-place Rachel Hernandez of UW-Stout with 162 and fifth-place Elizabeth Bobinski of St. Norbert College with 163.

UW-Oshkosh looks to defend its title at this weekend's WIAC Championship in Reedsburg. The 54-hole tournament will be held Friday through Sunday (Oct. 6-8) at the Reedsburg Country Club.
