Titans Take Second Place At UW-Whitewater Invitational

UW-Oshkosh placed second out of 15 teams at the UW-Whitewater Women's Golf Invitational held Friday and Saturday (Sept. 23-24) at the Delbrook Golf Club in Delavan.

The Titans recorded 18-hole scores of 319 on Friday and 326 on Saturday to finish 12 strokes behind champion Carthage College. The Lady Reds captured the team title with 633 strokes (49-over-par), while UW-Oshkosh earned the runner-up position and its highest finish at the tournament since 2005 with 645 (61-over-par).

UW-Whitewater ranked third in the team standings with 655 strokes, while UW-Platteville listed fourth with 667 and Lake Forest College (Ill.) fifth with 672.

Kayla Priebe followed a count of 76 strokes on Friday with 79 on Saturday to conclude the tournament with a third-place value of 155 (9-over-par). Allie Girard of Lake Forest College nipped Sarah Lyman of Carthage College, 153-154, for the individual title.

UW-Platteville's Stephanie Baribeau and Carthage College's Stephanie Walker shared fourth place among the tournament's 96 golfers with 156 strokes.

UW-Oshkosh had two other top-10 finishers as Laura Stair placed eighth with 161 strokes and Micayla Richards 10th with 162.

Also competing at the event for the Titans were Hannah Braun, Hanna Rebholz and Dianna Scheibe. Braun finished 19th with 167 strokes, while Rebholz placed 37th with 175 and Scheibe 43rd with 177.

UW-Oshkosh returns to action next Saturday and Sunday (Oct. 1-2) at the UW-Stevens Point Mad Dawg Invitational in Iola.
