Titans Finish Eighth At Division III Classic

The UW-Oshkosh women's golf team finished eighth among 17 teams at the Division III Classic held Saturday and Sunday (Sept. 17-18) at The Jewel Golf Club in Lake City, Minn.

UW-Oshkosh totaled 668 strokes (92-over-par) by recording 18-hole scores of 338 on Saturday and 330 on Sunday.

The University of St. Thomas (Minn.) cruised to the team title with a 27-stroke advantage over second-place St. Catherine University (Minn.). The Tommies counted 304 shots each day to defeat the Wildcats by an overall score of 608-635.

Carleton College (Minn.) placed third in the team standings with 636 strokes, while Bethel University (Minn.) and Grinnell College (Iowa) shared fourth place with 637. UW-Stout finished sixth with 653 strokes and the College of Saint Benedict (Minn.) seventh with 656.

UW-Oshkosh had three golfers finish in the top 32 places, including Kayla Priebe who ranked 10th with 155 strokes (11-over-par). The Titans' Hannah Braun and Micayla Richards shared 32nd place with 169 strokes.

UW-Oshkosh had two other participants in the meet, Laura Stair, who finished 62nd with 180 strokes, and Amanda Pederson, who placed 81st with 192.

Vidushi Sinha of Grinnell College and Marja Sorensen of the University of St. Thomas tied for the individual title with 147 strokes (3-over-par). Sharing third place among the tournament's 92 golfers with 148 strokes were Alyssa Akiyama of Carleton College and Vrishali Sinha of Grinnell College.

UW-Oshkosh competes at the UW-Whitewater Invitational on Friday and Saturday (Sept. 23-24) in Delavan.
