Froehlke Leads Titans past No. 17 Stout

MENOMONIE, Wis.- UW-Oshkosh women's basketball picked up a 63-58 win on the road against 17th-ranked UW-Stout on Saturday (Jan. 6).

Four Titans surpassed 10 points in the win. Bridget Froehlke (Jr. • Wrightstown) scored 16 points for the Titans, recording five-of-13 from the field, three-of-nine from three, and three-of-three from the line. Kate Huml (So. • Janesville) and Mackenzie Tlachac (Sr. • Kewaunee) each scored 13 points and Tlachac also had eight rebounds (two being offensive). Kennedy Osterman (Sr. • Pewaukee) scored 11 points on three-of-six from the field, three-of-five from three, and two-of-two from the line. Sarah Hardwick (So. • Fond du Lac) also recorded six rebound for the Titans.

UW-Oshkosh (10-3, 1-1 WIAC) led the Blue Devils shooting 35.8 percent (19-of-53) from the field and 33.3 percent (seven-of-21) from three. UW-Stout (11-2, 1-1 WIAC), led with 100 percent (seven-of-seven) from the line over Oshkosh. The Titans also led in points off turnovers (18-13) and bench points (26-12).

Kayce Vaile (Sr. • Greendale) started the game with the first two points off a layup. The Titans continued with a 7-0 push for an early lead and after an 11-point run, the Titans were up 18-3 with 1:22 left in the quarter. The first quarter ended after Tlachac and Froehlke made free throws to increase the lead 21-7. In the second, Stout came within 10 points before Osterman made a three-pointer for a 29-16 finish.

Early in the third quarter, Oshkosh went on another eight-point spree for a lead of 42-25. The Blue Devils came as close at five points of the Titans and ended the quarter with a score of 42-37. The Titans continued to hold their lead throughout the fourth while the teams traded points. Tlachac made the final two points for the Titans off free throws before the end of the game.

The Titans Return to action on Wednesday (Jan. 10) for an away game against UW-Platteville (8-5, 1-1 WIAC). Tip-off is set of 7 p.m.
