Titans Defeat Lumberjills In St. Norbert Tournament

DE PERE, Wis.- Mahra Wieman led the UW-Oshkosh women's basketball team to an 83-17 win over Northland College in the St. Norbert College Nicolet National Bank Tip-Off Tournament on Saturday afternoon (Nov. 18) with a career-high 14 points.

Wieman (So. • Sparta) shot five-of-six from the field, including two-for-three from three and made both of her free throw attempts. Sarah Hardwick (So. • Green Bay), Kayce Vaile (Sr. • Greendale) and Mackenzie Tlachac (Sr. • Kewaunee) also eclipsed 10 points with 13, 12 and 10, respectively. Vaile, who shot six-of-seven in the 66-point win, also led UW-Oshkosh with eight rebounds (four offensive).

The Titans shot 49.3 percent (33-of-67) from the field, 30.4 percent (seven-of-23) from three and 76.9 percent (10-of-13) from the line and held the Lumberjills to just 19.4 percent (seven-of-36) from the field, zero percent (zero-of-14) from three and 42.9 percent (three-of-seven) from the line.

Vaile scored the first basket seconds into the game and the Titans led the rest of the way. Oshkosh went on 14- and 8-point runs to take a 26-6 lead after the first quarter.

The Titans led by 35 points after the second quarter, 51 points after the third and 66 by the time the final buzzer sounded.

The Titans will return to action at Benedictine University (Ill.) on Monday, November 27 at 6 p.m. Oshkosh is 3-0 against the Eagles since 1974-75, last besting Benedictine 59-42 on November 19, 2004 in Wheaton, Illinois.
