Women's Basketball Takes on La Crosse

OSHKOSH, Wis.— The UW-Oshkosh Titans (10-5, 1-4 WIAC) are set to host the UW-La Crosse Eagles (14-2, 3-2 WIAC) in a Saturday conference match up. The Titans and Eagles are set to tip off at 3 p.m. inside Kolf Sports Center.

The Titans and Eagles are near each other in offensive statistical categories within the WIAC. The Eagles are averaging 66.6 points per game, while the Titans average 62.3 points per game. From field goal range, the Titans are shooting 42% from the field as the Eagles sit at 40.9%. At the charity stripe, the Titans and Eagles sit in the middle of the pack at 69.1% and 67.7% respectively. 

The Eagles carry a six-game winning streak, including three consecutive conference wins. The Eagles and Titans met three times last season, with the Titans claiming all three victories.

Outlook on Oshkosh

Defensively, the Titans have held their opponents to 39.4% from the field and allowed 56.4 points per game. The Titans are averaging 32.5 rebounds per game, 9.9 assists per game, and 6.1 steals per game.

Offensively, Kayce Vaile leads the Titans with 11.9 points per game and sits in the top-10 in the WIAC for scoring. Jenna Jorgensen adds 9.7 points per game, while Ava Douglas sits at 7.7 points per game. Sitting at No. 2 in the WIAC for rebounding effort, Vaile averages 8.5 rebounds per game. Vaile sits at No. 2 in the field goal percentage category for the Titans in the WIAC stats at 53.2%. Douglas and Osterman lead the Titans in assists per game at 1.9 and 1.7 respectively. 

Previewing La Crosse 

The Eagles defense leads the league with 49.9 points per game allowed and in combined team rebounds at 41.7 rebounds per game. La Crosse averages 16.4 turnovers per game and tallies 12.8 assists per game.

Kyah Steiner leads the Eagles with 9.2 points per game, as Lauryn Milne and Alana Gilles add 8.8 and 8.6 points per game each. Steiner leads the team in rebounds with 7.6 rebounds per game and sits at No. 5 in the league for rebounding efforts. Paige Schumann leads the Eagles with 3.4 assists and 1.5 steals per game. Gilles leads the WIAC in field goal percentage at 57.6% while Schumann sits at No. 2 in the conference for assists.
