Titans Set for Competition in Florida

OSHKOSH, Wis.—The UW-Oshkosh Titans women's basketball team returns to action in Florida on Dec. 19 and 20 as they compete at the Daytona Beach Shootout.

The Titans (6-2, 0-2 WIAC) will face Randolph-Macon College (5-4, 4-1 ODAC) on Dec. 19 and Roanoke College (6-0, 4-0 ODAC) on Dec. 20. Both games will be played at the Ocean Center with tip-off set for noon. 

Looking at Oshkosh

Kayce Vaile leads the Titans, averaging 13.1 points per game and 9.4 rebounds per game. Vaile has recorded four double-doubles this season. Vaile leads the WIAC in rebounding and is third in field goal percentage. Joining Vaile in double-figure scoring is Jenna Jorgensen (10.4 ppg). Sarah Hardwick averages 5 rebounds per game for the Titans, followed by Jorgensen at 4.4 rebounds per game. With 2.4 assists per game, Kennedy Osterman leads the team in assists.

The Titans are averaging 62.9 points, 33 rebounds, 10.8 assists, and 6.3 steals per game. The Titans opponents are averaging 58.3 points per game. Shooting 43% from the field, the Titans are second in the WIAC standing for field goal percentage.

Previewing Randolph-Macon

The Yellow Jackets of Randolph-Macon favored the three-ball in their last outing, with seven 3-points in a win over Guilford. The Yellow Jackets average 56.4 points per game and 36.4 rebounds per game. Although the Yellow Jackets are recording 12.4 assists per contest, the Yellow Jackets sit at 18.2 turnovers per game.

Leading the Yellow Jackets, Catherine Kagey averages 13.4 points and 8.5 rebounds per game. Jane Elkins joins Kagey in double-figure scoring averages at 12 points per game, while Paige Anderson sits at 6.2 rebounds per game. 

Previewing Roanoke

The Maroons of Roanoke are receiving votes in the WBCA poll after starting the season undefeated. The Maroons are recording 71.8 points and 45.5 rebounds per contest. The Marrons defense is holding strong, collecting 14.5 steals per contest and hold their opponents to 47.5 points per game.

Madison Nereu and Sayre Brandstatter lead the Maroons with 11.2 and 10.2 points per game respectively. Nereu leads Roanoke with 6.7 boards per contest, followed by Rose Sande (6 rebounds per game) and Brandstatter (5.7 rebounds per game). Brandstatter leads the team in assists per contest at 2.2.
