Porath Receives Third All-America Award From D3hoops.com

Leah Porath, the fourth all-time leading scorer in the history of the UW-Oshkosh women's basketball program, was named to the D3hoops.com NCAA Division III All-America Team for the third consecutive year.

The senior guard was one of 25 players selected to the online organization's 2022 All-America squad, joining guards Camy Aguinaldo of Pacific University (Ore.) and Veronica Christ of Elizabethtown College (Pa.), forward Jayla Johnson of North Park University (Ill.) and center Olivia Nagy of John Carroll University (Ohio) as members of the Third Team.

Porath was previously chosen to the D3hoops.com All-America Third Team in 2020 and the First Team in 2021. She is the only UW-Oshkosh player to receive multiple All-America awards from D3hoops.com.

Porath, who earlier this week became the first Titan to earn D3hoops.com All-Region First Team honors on three occasions, was selected to the 2022 All-Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference First Team after leading UW-Oshkosh to the league tournament semifinals.

The Titans earned an at-large berth into the Division III Championship and defeated three nationally ranked opponents en route to reaching the quarterfinals for the first time since 1999. UW-Oshkosh outscored 18th-ranked Wisconsin Lutheran College in the first round, fourth-ranked Simpson College (Iowa) in the second and 10th-ranked Baldwin Wallace University (Ohio) in the third before falling at 12th-ranked and eventual national tournament runner-up UW-Whitewater in the Elite Eight. UW-Oshkosh ended the 2022 season with a 22-7 record.

Porath averaged 14.6 points and 5.9 rebounds per game this season while shooting 45.8% from the field and 42.1% from 3-point range. She also totaled 47 assists, 24 steals and 40 3-point baskets. Porath led the WIAC in 3-point field goal percentage and ranked fifth in the league in scoring, sixth in rebounding and ninth in field goal percentage.

Porath produced at least eight points in 72 of her last 73 games played and poured in a season-best 28 points against Bethany Lutheran College on Nov. 12 and 27 during the Titans' upset victory over Baldwin Wallace University on March 11. She also had 20-point scoring performances in a pair of WIAC road contests at UW-River Falls on Jan. 22 and UW-Platteville on Feb. 2. Her season highs also included 13 rebounds versus Carthage College on Dec. 30, four assists on three occasions, and four 3-pointers at both UW-Whitewater in the WIAC Tournament semifinals Feb. 23 and Simpson College during the NCAA postseason on March 5.

Porath, one of 11 finalists for the 2022 Jostens Trophy that recognizes the most outstanding NCAA Division III player of the year, concluded her standout career with 1,405 points, 559 rebounds, 179 assists, 115 made 3-pointers, 98 steals, a .481 field goal percentage and a .381 3-point percentage in 115 games played.

Porath closed her five seasons at UW-Oshkosh by helping the Titans to 98 wins, two WIAC regular season titles, three WIAC Tournament championships and three NCAA regional titles in three consecutive trips to the Division III postseason.

Players selected to the 2022 D3hoops.com All-America First Team were guards Elyce Knudsen of Millikin University (Ill.) and Kenedy Schoonveld of national champion Hope College (Mich.) and forwards Hailey Coleman of Trinity University (Texas), Hanna Geistfeld of Bethany Lutheran University (Minn.) and Jenna Taylor of Simpson College. Schoonveld was named the Division III Player of the Year.
