Porath Earns Another National Basketball Team Of The Week Award

UW-Oshkosh senior guard Leah Porath was named to the five-member D3hoops.com Women's Basketball Team of the Week for the second time this season and third time overall.

Porath earned her latest national weekly award for games played March 1-7. The selection follows her award for games held Feb. 8-14 of this season and Nov. 8-17 of the 2019-20 campaign.

Porath averaged 27.3 points, 11 rebounds and 4.3 assists as UW-Oshkosh defeated UW-River Falls, UW-La Crosse and UW-Whitewater to capture its third straight Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference tournament title and sixth in the past eight seasons.

Porath compiled 82 points in the three games by shooting 61.5 percent (32-52) from the field and 78.9 percent from the free throw line. She also made 3 of 9 (33.3 percent) 3-point shots while totaling 33 rebounds (28 defensive), 13 assists, three steals and three blocked shots.

UW-Oshkosh opened this year's WIAC tournament with a 79-59 home victory over UW-River Falls on March 1. Porath tied a career high with 30 points in the contest and established career bests with 14 rebounds and six assists. She shot 12 of 19 from the field and converted all six free throws during 31 minutes of playing time.

In UW-Oshkosh's 67-59 semifinal victory over visiting UW-La Crosse on March 3, Porath scored a career-high 35 points with 12 rebounds and three assists during 35 minutes of activity. She shot 13 of 19 from the field, including 3-for-3 from 3-point range, and 6-for-8 at the free throw line. The double-double was the fourth of Porath's career.

Porath concluded her impressive week by counting 17 points, seven rebounds and five assists during UW-Oshkosh's 74-58 championship game victory over visiting UW-Whitewater on March 5. Porath shot 7 of 14 from the field and 3 of 5 from the free throw line during 35 minutes of action. In addition, Porath became UW-Oshkosh's 22nd 1,000-point scorer early in the third quarter.

This season Porath is leading the Titans with 18.7 points and 6.5 rebounds per game. She paces the WIAC in scoring while ranking second in field goal percentage (.534/78-146) and seventh in both rebounding and free throw percentage (.769/40-52).

Porath, a four-time WIAC Athlete of the Week award winner, has appeared in 88 games during her UW-Oshkosh career, including 59 as a starter. Her career totals include 1,010 points, 399 rebounds, 132 assists, 75 3-point baskets and 74 steals. The 2020 D3hoops.com All-America Third Team selection and reigning WIAC Player of the Year, has scored in double figures 42 times in the Titans' last 45 games.

Joining Porath on the D3hoops.com Team of the Week for March 1-7 center Olivia Nagy from John Carroll University (Ohio), guard Kendall Sosa from Illinois Wesleyan University and forwards Hannah Geistfeld from Bethany Lutheran College (Minn.) and Emily Kutskel from Delaware Valley University (Pa.).

UW-Oshkosh concluded the 2021 season with a 9-2 record. The Titans, who have won 194 of their last 243 games played, captured this year's WIAC regular season title for the third time in five seasons and 14th time overall. UW-Oshkosh is a seven-time WIAC tournament champion.
