Schmidt, Campbell Lead Titans' All-WIAC Basketball Selections

Two-time honoree Taylor Schmidt and first-time award winner Eliza Campbell headline UW-Oshkosh's selections to the 2016 All-WIAC Women's Basketball Team.

Schmidt and Campbell were named to the 10-member first team, while teammates Ashley Neustifter and Alex Richard were among 11 honorable mention selections. Neustifter was also named to the league's five-member All-Defensive Team.

Schmidt, a junior guard, has started all 87 of UW-Oshkosh's games during her three seasons and averages 10.8 points, 2.9 assists, 2.5 rebounds and 1.5 steals per contest.

An All-WIAC first-team selection in 2015 and a honorable mention choice in 2014, Schmidt leads the Titans and ranks 10th in the league this season by averaging 11.2 points per game. She also paces the WIAC in 3-point percentage (.439) while listing fourth in the league in free throw percentage (.811), sixth in assists per game (2.59) and seventh in 3-pointers (36).

Schmidt scored 21 or more points in a game three times this year, including 23 to tie a season high during the Titans' 65-64 victory over UW-River Falls in the title game of the WIAC Championship on Feb. 27. She also tallied 23 points in UW-Oshkosh's 79-66 win over UW-Whitewater on Jan. 20.

Campbell, a sophomore forward, has played in 56 of UW-Oshkosh's 57 games during her two seasons, including the last 15 as a starter. Her career totals include averages of 9 points, 4.4 rebounds, 1.1 assists and 1.2 steals per game.

This season, Campbell is the Titans' second-leading scorer at 9.1 points per game. She has also contributed 35 steals, 28 assists and 21 3-pointers.

Campbell owns a pair of double-doubles this season, including a 17-point, 10-rebound performance during UW-Oshkosh's 59-52 loss to UW-Stout on Feb. 6. She scored a season-best 20 points during the Titans' win over UW-Stout on Jan. 23.

Neustifter, a senior guard, has played in each of the Titans' 113 games during her four seasons, including the last 87 as a starter. Her career averages include 6.2 points, 3.2 rebounds, 2.8 assists and 1.3 steals per contest.

Neustifter ranks second in the WIAC this season with 2.93 assists per contest and 10th with 1.56 steals per game. She lists fourth on the Titans by averaging 3.3 rebounds per game and fifth with 5.8 points per contest.

Richard has played in all 87 UW-Oshkosh games the past three seasons, including the last 57 as a starter. The junior forward's career averages include 6.8 points and 5.1 rebounds per game.

Richard ranks seventh in the conference this season in free throw percentage (.771) and ninth in field goal percentage (.459). She also lists second on the Titans with 5.4 rebounds per game and third with 8.6 points per contest.

Joining Campbell and Schmidt on the first team were Teenie Lichtfuss and Erin O'Toole from UW-Eau Claire, Taylor Karge and Brynn Liljander from UW-River Falls, Lauren Anklam and Allie Miceli from UW-Stevens Point, Kyleigh Hebert from UW-Stout, and Lisa Palmer from UW-Whitewater.

Rounding out the honorable mention selections were Madison Johnson from UW-Eau Claire, Elise DeNoyer and MaKenzie Miller from UW-La Crosse, Elisa Bilderback from UW-Platteville, Richell Mehus and Kate Theisen from UW-River Falls, Jenna Goldsmith from UW-Stout, and Abbie Reeves and Malia Smith from UW-Whitewater.

Joining Neustifter on the All-Defensive Team were Mehus, Miceli, O'Toole and Smith.

O'Toole was named the WIAC Player of the Year, while Cindy Holbrook from UW-River Falls was tabbed Coach of the Year.

UW-River Falls won the WIAC regular-season crown with a 12-2 record. UW-Oshkosh placed second with an 11-3 mark, followed by UW-Stevens Point in third at 10-4, UW-La Crosse and UW-Whitewater fourth at 8-6, UW-Stout sixth at 4-10, UW-Platteville seventh at 2-12, and UW-La Crosse eighth at 1-13.

Second-seeded UW-Oshkosh won the league's postseason tournament for the third consecutive year.

UW-Oshkosh (22-5 overall record), UW-River Falls (22-5), UW-Stevens Point (20-7) and UW-Whitewater (19-7) all received bids to the 64-team NCAA Division III Championship, marking the second time in WIAC history that the league will be represented by four teams in the national postseason. The 2012 NCAA tournament field featured UW-Eau Claire, UW-River Falls, UW-Stevens Point and UW-Whitewater.

UW-Oshkosh, UW-River Falls and UW-Stevens Point will all host four-team regionals this weekend (March 4-5), while UW-Whitewater will compete at the St. Louis (Mo.) Regional hosted by Washington University.
