Titans Crowned National Free Throw Champion

UW-Oshkosh was the best among 424 NCAA Division III women's basketball teams in this season's national free throw percentage rankings. The Titans concluded the year with 78.6 percent accuracy at the foul line.

Making 372-of-473 attempts, UW-Oshkosh's marksmanship was a full point ahead of second-place finisher Gustavus Adolphus College (Minn.), which hit 77.6 percent (405-522). Two other squads shot better than 77 percent, with Allegheny College (Pa.) ranking third at 77.38 and Centre College (Ky.) fourth at 77.36.

UW-Oshkosh shot 88 percent or higher from the free throw line in 10 games this season. The Titans were perfect in two contests, finishing 13-for-13 in a 62-54 loss to Carroll University and 7-for-7 in a 54-42 setback to UW-Stevens Point. During a 62-53 victory over UW-Eau Claire, UW-Oshkosh converted 20-of-22 shots (90.9 percent) at the charity stripe.

UW-Oshkosh's Shelby Churchill (Sr. • Sheboygan) topped the WIAC with 84.1 percent (69-82) free throw shooting. The Titans also owned the league's second-ranked shooter in Katie Kitzke (So. • South Milwaukee) at 82.7 percent (62-75).

In three-point shooting, UW-Oshkosh ranked 41st in the NCAA Division III by making 34.8 percent (115-330) of its attempts.

UW-Oshkosh compiled a 12-14 record and finished fifth in the WIAC this past season.
