OSHKOSH, Wis.- With two wins over St. Norbert College at the UW-Oshkosh Rec Plex on Thursday afternoon (April 4), the Titan softball team is on the hottest start in program history with an 18-0 record.

Oshkosh defeated the Green Knights 4-1 in game one and 8-0 in six innings in game two. Since the games were originally slated to play in De Pere, the Titans batted as the home team in the first game and St. Norbert batted as the home team in the second.

Abby Freismuth (Sr. • Fond du Lac) started in the circle for the Titans' (18-0) first game, pitching 7.0 innings against the Green Knights (4-14, 1-5 NACC). Freismuth delivered 10 strikeouts while allowing only seven hits and one run.

Sophie Wery (Jr. • Seymour) doubled out to center field to send Hannah Ritter (Sr. • Marengo, Ill.) home for the first run of the day in the bottom of the first inning.

Haylie Wittman (So. • Kaukauna) singled through the right side as the leadoff batter in the second inning, advancing bases on a fielding error that put Morgan Rau (Sr. • Downers Grove, Ill.) on base and a wild pitch before Morgan Miller (So. • Schaumburg, Ill.) came to the plate. Miller hit a fielder's choice that Wittman scored on for a 2-0 Titan lead.

Oshkosh added two more runs in the fourth inning when Cali Divito (Jr. • Inverness, Ill.) reached on a fielding error that scored Miller and Ritter doubled down the left field line to send Divito home.

The Green Knights scored their only run of the day in the top of the sixth inning on a single up the middle with a throwing error.

In her first collegiate start, Brianna Bougie (Fr. • Oshkosh) recorded the third no-hitter of the 2024 season and the 14th in program history in the second game of the day. She improved her season record to 2-0, throwing all 6.0 innings with one strikeout and a walk and threw against minimum nine batters in the last three innings. Bougie also combined with Mia Crotty (Sr. • Palos Park, Ill.) for a no-hitter against Ripon College on March 3.

Oshkosh scored six runs in the top of the second inning after Wery hit a leadoff triple to right center. Wittman singled in the following at bat to score Wery and the Titans loaded the bases to bring Brianna Davis (Jr. • Oshkosh) to the plate. She singled to center to make the score 2-0 and Zoe Malone (Sr. • Pittsburgh, Pa.) walked for a 4-run lead. After St. Norbert recorded the first out of the inning, two runs scored on a Divito single through the left side and the sixth scored as Ritter singled through the right side.

Wittman hit a triple of her own in the fourth inning, scoring Amanda Martineck (Fr. • Frankfort, Ill.) who replaced Ritter at first base and Rau sent another run home in the sixth on an RBI double to center.

The Titans will travel to face Marian University on Wednesday (April 10) for a doubleheader with the first game set for 4 p.m. at the Sabres' Smith Field.
