Titans Wrap Up Florida Trip, Remain Undefeated

CLERMONT, Fla.- UW-Oshkosh softball wrapped up its Florida trip with a 13-1 win over Gustavus Adolphus College (Minn.) and a 2-1 victory over Colby College (Maine).

Two more runs scored in the third inning on a Haylie Wittman (So. • Kaukauna) double to left center and a Morgan Rau (Sr. • Downers Grove, Ill.) single through the left side of the infield.

Rau made the score 4-0 as she reached home on Cali Divito's (Jr. • Inverness, Ill. single through the right side in the fifth inning. When Amanda Martineck (Fr. • Frankfort, Ill.) reached first on an error by the second baseman in the sixth, Zoe Malone (Sr. • Pittsburgh, Pa.) scored the Titans' fifth run. Rau recorded her second RBI of the game two batters later on a sacrifice fly to center.

Freismuth took a no-hitter into the sixth inning, recording two outs before the Gusties hit a single to center field. She kept Gustavus Adolphus off the board, forcing the next batter to line out.

Oshkosh recorded seven runs in the seventh inning. Divito scored on a Ritter single, Sophie Wery (Jr. • Seymour) hit a grand slam in the next at-bat and Wittman sprinted around the bases for a two-run inside the park home run two batters after Wery.

The Gusties scored their only run of the game in the bottom of the seventh inning on a bases loaded fielder's choice before a pop up to Wittman ended the game.

Colby (8-6) scored the first run of Oshkosh's final game in Florida on a first and third steal in the top of the first inning. Not to be outdone, Sarah Hammerton (Fr. • Appleton) ran home on a wild pitch to tie the game up in the bottom half of the inning.

The Titans advanced one runner to scoring position in the next five innings, but did not score while Sydney Nemetz (Jr. • Marinette) kept the Mules off the board as well with five innings of no more than five batters faced.

After Nemetz forced a groundout and struck out two to keep the score at 1-1 in the top of the seventh, Sydney Rau (Sr. • Downers Grove, Ill.) walked and stole second before advancing to third on a single from Divito. Divito then stole second as Morgan Miller (So. • Schaumburg, Ill.) pinch hit for Garceau to put runners on second and third. Miller singled to the shortstop and Rau crossed the plate to walk off Colby for Oshkosh's 16th win to open the season.

Nemetz retained her unblemished record in the victory (8-0), striking out eight batters across seven innings while allowing just three hits and a single run.

The Titans will return to Wisconsin and face the Milwaukee School of Engineering next on Tuesday (April 2) for a road doubleheader starting at 3 p.m.
