Titans Sweep WIAC Softball Athlete Of The Week Awards

UW-Oshkosh swept the Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference Kwik Trip Softball Athlete of the Week awards as junior pitcher Maddie Fink and sophomore shortstop Morgan Rau were honored for their performances in games played April 11-17.

Fink was named the conference's top pitcher for the week while Rau was chosen as the league's best position player. Both players helped nationally ranked UW-Oshkosh defeat UW-Whitewater by scores of 1-0 and 6-0 on April 15 in Whitewater.

Fink scattered five hits as she earned a complete-game shutout during UW-Oshkosh's 1-0 victory over the Warhawks, who shared last year's WIAC regular season title with the Titans.

Fink, the reigning WIAC Pitcher of the Year, registered her league-leading fourth shutout of the season after pitching around baserunners in each inning. She walked the bases loaded in the second inning before inducing an infield popup to thwart the threat.

Fink issued five walks during the contest while striking out a season-high 10 batters.

Rau went 4-for-6 at the plate against UW-Whitewater with a home run, three runs batted in, two runs scored and one stolen base.

Rau had all four of her hits during UW-Oshkosh's 6-0 victory over the Warhawks, including a fifth-inning three-run homer that gave the Titans a 6-0 lead.

Rau scored the lone run in the second inning of UW-Oshkosh's 1-0 victory over UW-Whitewater in the opener. She walked once and went hitless in two at-bats during that contest.

UW-Oshkosh (20-4, 6-0 WIAC) entered the doubleheader with UW-Whitewater ranked 14th in the NCAA Division III by the National Fastpitch Coaches Association.
