Fink Receives WIAC Softball Athlete Of The Week Award

UW-Oshkosh's Madelyn Fink was selected as the WIAC Kwik Trip Softball Athlete of the Week for games played March 2-8.

Fink was named the conference's top pitcher for the week while UW-Stout outfielder Korin Hall was chosen as the league's top position player.

Fink pitched a pair of complete-game victories and earned a win in relief as UW-Oshkosh compiled a 3-1 record in contests played against Buena Vista University (Iowa), Lake Forest College (Ill.) and University of Chicago (Ill.) in Rosemont, Ill.

Fink scattered 15 hits during her 19 innings pitched and allowed just six runs (three earned) with 15 strikeouts. Only two of her hits yielded went for extra bases.

Fink hurled a seven-inning three-hit shutout during UW-Oshkosh's 4-0 victory over Lake Forest College on March 6. She struck out seven batters and allowed only three base runners to reach second base.

During UW-Oshkosh's 4-3 win over Buena Vista University on March 8, Fink pitched all seven innings and allowed just five hits and one earned run. She struck out four batters without issuing a walk.

Fink then pitched five innings of relief to earn the victory during the Titans' eight-inning 12-7 win over the University of Chicago on March 8. She entered the game in the second inning and permitted seven hits and three runs (two earned) with four strikeouts.

Fink was also named the league's Pitcher of the Week for games played Feb. 17-23.
