Menting Named To Academic All-District Team

UW-Oshkosh sophomore catcher Abby Menting was named to the NCAA Division III softball Academic All-District 6 Team by the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA).

The CoSIDA Academic All-District Teams recognize the nation's top student-athletes for their combined performances athletically and in the classroom.

Menting, an accounting major with a 3.97 cumulative grade average, paces UW-Oshkosh in batting average (.383), hits (44), home runs (5), runs batted in (28), walks (21), on-base percentage (.482) and slugging percentage (.626).

This season, Menting helped lead the Titans to their seventh NCAA postseason appearance and first since 2008. UW-Oshkosh (30-11), which received an at-large berth to this year's Division III Championship, opens the 62-team national tournament against Benedictine University (Ill.) on Friday (May 8) in La Crosse.

Menting, who compiled a 12-game hitting streak from April 20-30, has a .455 batting average with 14 RBIs and a .727 slugging percentage in her last 10 games. She has produced 14 multiple-hit games this year as the Titans reached 30 wins for the second time in three seasons and the fifth time in program history.

In her career, Menting is hitting .402 with 44 runs scored, 21 doubles, 11 home runs, 65 runs batted in, a .485 on-base percentage and a .655 slugging percentage. She garnered all-conference first team laurels this season after being selected WIAC Co-Position Player of the Year and Division III All-Great Lakes Region First Team a year ago.

The CoSIDA NCAA Division III Academic All-District 6 Team was comprised of 11 players from institutions in Michigan, Minnesota and Wisconsin.

Joining Menting on CoSIDA's Academic All-District 6 Team are pitchers Lauren Blasczyk from UW-Eau Claire and Emily Brekke from Concordia University Wisconsin as well as infielders Heather Bol from UW-Stout, Mary-Clare Couillard from Hamline University (Minn.), Kylie Macziewski from St. Catherine University (Minn.) and Sara Wennerstrand from College of Saint Benedict (Minn.).
