Koepsel, Vondrak Named WIAC Players Of The Week

UW-Oshkosh catcher Katie Koepsel and pitcher Jill Vondrak were named the WIAC's Hitter and Pitcher of the Week, as the Titans went 5-1 from April 15-20.

Koepsel hit .611 (11-18) with five home runs and 11 runs batted in during UW-Oshkosh's games against UW-Superior, 10th-ranked UW-Whitewater and UW-River Falls.

Koepsel hit safely in all six contests while scoring eight runs and posting a 1.500 slugging percentage.

During the first game vs. UW-Superior on April 15, Koepsel hit a two-run homer in the fifth inning to tie the score. The next inning, she launched a grand slam to give the Titans their 9-5 victory. Koepsel had two hits in the second contest, including a three-run shot that gave UW-Oshkosh a three-run lead in its 6-3 victory.

Koepsel went 4-for-5 during UW-Oshkosh's sweep of nationally ranked UW-Whitewater on April 16. After recording two singles and a double during a 3-2 victory in the opener, Koepsel ripped a solo homer during a 2-0 triumph in the nightcap.

UW-Oshkosh split a doubleheader with UW-River Falls on April 20. Koepsel went 3-for-7 at the plate, including two hits during a 7-3 victory in the opener. She hit a solo home run during a 7-6 loss in the second game.

Vondrak shut out #10 UW-Whitewater out on just two hits as she totaled a 2-0 record, 10 strikeouts and a 1.17 earned run average in three appearances.

Against UW-Superior on April 15, Vondrak threw a five-inning complete game. She scattered six hits while striking out two batters in the Titans' 6-3 victory.

Vondrak retired the first 17 batters on April 18. The only hits she allowed during the 2-0 triumph were a pair of sixth-inning singles. Vondrak hurled all seven innings and faced just 24 batters, three over the minimum. Only one UW-Whitewater runner reached second base.

Vondrak struck out six while pitching six shutout innings against UW-River Falls on April 20. She received a no-decision after exiting the game with a 6-0 lead. The Falcons battled back to earn a 7-6 victory.
