Titans To Meet Blugolds In WIAC Tournament Opener

UW-Oshkosh begins action in the Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (WIAC) Women's Softball Tournament by battling top-seeded UW-Eau Claire on Friday (May 4) in Eau Claire.

UW-Oshkosh earned the double-elimination tournament's sixth seed after finishing sixth in the league's regular-season standings with a 7-9 record. The Titans own a 22-18 overall record, including losses of 10-3 and 10-6 to UW-Eau Claire on April 28.

UW-Eau Claire won the WIAC's regular-season championship with a 14-2 record. It was the eighth WIAC title for the Blugolds, who enter their 10 a.m. contest against UW-Oshkosh with a 14-game winning streak and a 30-10 overall record.

Other opening round games on Friday have second-seeded UW-Whitewater (29-9) playing fifth-seeded UW-Platteville (19-17) at noon and third-seeded UW-River Falls (25-12) meeting fourth-seeded UW-Stout (18-20) at 2 p.m.

Action in the three-day tournament concludes on Sunday (May 6) with the championship game. The winner of the WIAC Tournament advances to the National Collegiate Athletic Association Division III Championship.
