Sweeney Receives WIAC Position Player Of The Week Award

The Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (WIAC) has named UW-Oshkosh designated player Julie Sweeney (Fr. • Arlington Heights, Ill.) as its Women's Softball Position Player of the Week. The award was for games played April 16-22.

Sweeney hit .636 (7-11) with two home runs and nine runs batted in as UW-Oshkosh compiled a 5-1 record in games against UW-Stevens Point, UW-River Falls and UW-Stout.

Sweeney, who also compiled a 2-1 pitching record in four appearances, went to the plate in three of the Titans' six games. She scored four runs while adding a double.

In UW-Oshkosh's 10-3 win over UW-Stevens Point on April 17, Sweeney had a two-run home run among her three hits.

During UW-Oshkosh's 8-7 win over defending WIAC champion UW-River Falls on April 21, Sweeney went 2-for-5 at the plate with two runs batted in.

In UW-Oshkosh's 13-5 loss to UW-Stout on April 22, Sweeney went 2-for-3 at the plate with five runs batted in. Her hits were a three-run double and a two-run home run.

Ashley Meinen of UW-Eau Claire was selected as the WIAC Pitcher of the Week.
