Titans' Suess Tallies 200th Coaching Victory

UW-Oshkosh's Cindy Suess gained her 200th coaching victory in the Titans' nine-inning, 3-2 win over defending WIAC champion UW-River Falls on Saturday (April 21) at YP.com Softball Park.

Suess, who is in her eighth season at UW-Oshkosh, is just the eighth coach in WIAC history to hit the 200-win milestone. She joins Sharon Panske as the only UW-Oshkosh coaches to achieve 200 wins. Panske totaled 298 victories while coaching the Titans from 1987-2003.

Since being named UW-Oshkosh's head coach in 2005, Suess has guided the Titans to a 200-122-1 record (.621 winning percentage). She has coached UW-Oshkosh to a winning season every year, including records of 36-11 in 2007 and 32-11 in 2008. Suess's 2007 team captured the WIAC championship, while her 2008 squad came within one victory of advancing to the NCAA Division III World Series. The Titans finished second in the WIAC standings in 2005, 2006 and 2008.

Suess, the 2007 WIAC Coach of the Year, has tutored 17 All-WIAC selections. Two of those players, pitcher Ronessa Stampfli and outfielder Whitney Tornow, were named NCAA Division III All-Americans.

Following graduation from Luxemburg-Casco High School, Suess attended Wartburg College (Iowa) and earned NCAA Division III All-America honors while playing softball for the Knights.

UW-Oshkosh (19-13) went nine innings to defeat UW-River Falls, 8-7, in the second game of Saturday's doubleheader. The Titans will host UW-Stout in a doubleheader on Sunday (April 22) at YP.com Softball Park.
