Strasser Paces Titans At Hoffman Invitational

Andrew Strasser finished 40th in a field of 190 runners to lead the UW-Oshkosh men's cross country team at the UW-Whitewater Tom Hoffman Invitational held Saturday (Sept. 18).

Strasser completed the 8,000-meter course in a time of 27:50.1.

The Titans had four other top 60 finishers as Dwight Hosni placed 43rd with a time of 27:53.9, Eduardo Neri 55th in 28:13.0, Michael Kreuser 56th in 28:16.0 and Ryan Dolnik 60th in 28:22.0.

Other UW-Oshkosh results had Cody Witthun finishing 78th with a time of 28:45.9, Isaac Lueck 97th in 29:25.6, Joe Hertel 121st in 30:25.9, Zachary Nelson 133rd in 31:03.1 and Jeremiah Wilson 169th in 34:00.3.

UW-Whitewater owned three of the meet's top five runners, including David Fassbender who traveled to a winning time of 25:30.4. The Warhawks also had Gunner Schlender finish second with a time of 25:33.9 and Christian Patzka fourth in 25:42.2.

The remaining top five runners belonged to Washington University in St. Louis (Mo.) – Jacob Rudderhoff who finished third with a time of 25:41.6 and Michael Ly who placed fifth in 26:02.3.

UW-Oshkosh, which rested several of its top runners, finished sixth in the 13-team meet with 180 points.

UW-Whitewater edged Washington University in St. Louis, 30-31, for the team title while UW-Stevens Point finished a distant third with 101 points, NCAA Division I UW-Green Bay fourth with 136 and UW-Platteville fifth with 142.

Washington University in St. Louis entered the meet ranked fifth in the NCAA Division III by the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association while UW-Whitewater ranked 14th and UW-Oshkosh 33rd.

UW-Oshkosh is off until it competes at the UW-Eau Claire Blugold Invitational on Oct. 1 in Colfax.
