Titans Repeat As Griak Invitational Champion

UW-Oshkosh used four top-10 individual performances to successfully defend its team title during the Maroon Race of the Roy Griak Men's Cross Country Invitational held Saturday (Sept. 24) in Falcon Heights, Minn.

UW-Oshkosh, which also won the Maroon Race in 2011, bested this year's eight-team field by scoring 37 points to easily outpace runner-up Milwaukee School of Engineering's total of 68. UW-River Falls finished in third place with 95 points while Hamline University (Minn.) was fourth with 97 and Carthage College fifth with 113.

Completing the team standings were sixth-place Macalester College (Minn.) with 126 points, seventh-place University of Northwestern (Minn.) with 185 and eighth-place Concordia University Wisconsin with 212.

Charlend Howard led the Titans by completing the 8,000-meter course in a second-place time of 27:05. UW-Oshkosh's Tyler Miletti finished third among the meet's 98 runners with a time of 27:16, while Joe Zack placed seventh in 28:10, Mitch Pauers 10th in 28:29 and Jacob Rost 15th in 29:01.

Daniel Borash from UW-River Falls won the race with a time of 27:00, while teammate Julian Manley finished fourth in 27:38 and Austin Wright from Milwaukee School of Engineering fifth in 27:54.

Other UW-Oshkosh results featured Cole Considine finishing 20th in 29:08, Dan Massey 22nd in 29:12, Trevor Damkot 33rd in 29:33, Trevor Faldet 52nd in 30:25 and Derrick Rufer 54th in 30:33.

UW-Oshkosh runs at the prestigious Notre Dame Invitational on Friday (Sept. 30) in South Bend, Ind.
