Salinas Leads Titans At UW-Oshkosh Open
Fabian Salinas finished fourth to lead the UW-Oshkosh men's cross country team during a 29-runner race the Titans hosted Friday (Oct. 23) at the Lake Breeze Golf Club in Winneconne.
Salinas completed the 8,000-meter course in a time of 27:28, while UW-Oshkosh teammates Ken Peters placed sixth in 27:32, Derrick Rufer 12th in 27:58 and Dan Massey 15th in 28:19.
Unattached runners Calvin Vanryzin, Ryan Burd and Sebastian Miller owned three of the top five individual finishes. Vanryzin won the race with a time of 26:41, while Burd placed second in 26:58 and Miller fifth in 27:30.
UW-Stevens Point's Robert Lutz captured third place with his time of 27:17.
UW-Oshkosh also had Adian Welsch finish 16th in 28:22, Corbin Bevry 20th in 29:01, Nathan Nozzi 21st in 29:15, Kyle Peotter 24th in 29:28 and Maxim Stingle 27th in 31:54.
UW-Stevens Point outscored UW-Oshkosh, 23-34, to win the team competition.
The Titans, who competed in the UW-Oshkosh Open without several of their top runners, will host the 55th Annual WIAC Men's Cross Country Championship next Saturday (Oct. 31) at the Lake Breeze Golf Club in Winneconne.
