Allen Leads Titans At UW-Oshkosh Open
Mark Allen (Fr. • Port Washington)
finished seventh among 30 runners to lead the UW-Oshkosh men's
cross country team in a non-scoring meet that the Titans hosted on
Friday (Oct. 23) at the Lake Breeze Golf Cub in Winneconne.
UW-Oshkosh's regular season finale also included participants from
UW-Stevens Point and the Wisconsin Track Club.
Allen completed the 8,000-meter course in a time of 27:13. Nick
Limoni of the Wisconsin Track Club won the race with a time of
25:59, while Corey Towle, running unattached, finished second in
26:16 and Zach Bruns of the Wisconsin Track Club third in
26:35.
UW-Oshkosh had six other runners in the meet as Tim Schraufnagel
(Fr. • Neenah) finished ninth in 27:27, Jeff Baudry (Sr.
• Oakfield) 13th in 27:57, Brett DeNure (Fr. • Monroe)
15th in 28:16, Nick Newcomer (So. • Winnebago, Ill.) 16th in
28:23, Brian Peterson (So. • Toluca, Ill.) 18th in 28:32 and
Darius Montazemi (Fr. • Minnetonka, Minn.) 26th in 29:45.
UW-Oshkosh, ranked 18th in the NCAA Division III by the United
States Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association,
participated in the meet with only seven of its 24 available
runners. Several of the Titans' top runners were absent from the
meet as they were resting in preparation of next Saturday's (Oct.
31) WIAC Championship in Whitewater.
